The "Alek Kavčić" Foundation has launched the first Serbian teacher award "Enlightener". The first place in this competition of the best kindergarten, primary and secondary school teachers of Serbia brings 1,000,000 dinars, but also opens the door to participation in the global competition of educators - "Global Teacher Prize".

In addition to winning the main prize, candidates can compete in four other categories, and the total prize fund amounts to 1,300,000 dinars.

Kindergarten, primary and secondary school teachers from formal education, but also mentors, coaches, facilitators, recreation workers and cosplayers from informal education can apply for the competition. To be part of this contest, participants must meet at least seven conditions.

Presenting the newly established "Enlightener" award and its prize fund, Professor Aleksandar Kavcic pointed out that this award was launched to emphasize how exceptional the teaching profession is and invited all those interested to apply for the competition and thus introduce the public to their work and achievements.

"I invite employees in preschool, elementary, and high school education, both in formal and informal education, to apply for this year's competition," said prof. Kavčić at the press conference and added that anyone who wants to register in person can do so by filling out the form on the Prosvetitelj website.

As explained by teacher Zeljana Radojicic Lukic, a member of the Enlightener Award's organizational team, not only personal applications will be considered, but anyone who thinks they know an exceptional educator, teacher or instructor, who pushes the boundaries in their profession, can nominate that person for the award.

All nominations should be made by April 15, personal applications by May 15, while the jury will announce the semi-finalist decision by June 15.

In addition to Zeljana Radojicic Lukic, the organizational team includes a professor of developmental and educational psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Belgrade, Aleksandar Baucal, one of the best teachers in the world, a teacher of English from Paraćin, Borko Petrovic, and a teacher of Serbian language and literature from Kovacica, Jelena Lukic.
